Kanye’s Greatest Speech Pt. 1
Kanye West’s speech at Oxford Guild five years ago is one of the last and most important speeches he’s given us.

Narcissistic. Erratic. Self-absorbed. Fragile.Earnest. There are several traits that can apply to the artist we know as Kanye West. Rarely are traits like insightful and prophetical used, however. It’s regrettable but understandable: Kanye’s passion and brashness have made him a polarizing figure whose aim varies with the wind. But in an age where mental health and its effects are garnering more respect, it begs the question: Why don’t we give Kanye more grace?
Moreso, why do we focus more on his actions following his diagnosis rather than assess his works prior to that? This is the same man whom years earlier spoke of blending high fashion into rap while also introducing the notion of rappers owning royalties and percentages of companies they built. His antics overshadow his voice.
