What We Have Here is A Failure to Communicate.
The endless platitudes on how men and women differ never cease to amaze me. Growing up hearing men are from Mars and women are from Venus never made much sense until I became an adult myself and lived it. Amongst other things I frequently heard was that men and women communicate differently. The articles, movies and blogs would say men struggle to communicate, failing to express themselves and that in turn caused issues with their mates who desperately sought that attention. While a generalization, the gravity and truth embedded in these generalizations never fails to generate agreement.
Just go onto any social media platform and look at your favorite comedian’s page. Somewhere on there are tons of generalized statements referring to behaviors that every human exhibits or exhibited at one point. But rather than look at them as natural occurrences from people at different points in time we lump them together as reflective of a group of people. Anything to remove blame for own flaws. Either way, the thing that struck me the most is underneath the jokes is an air of truth. Women and men fundamentally listen and receive information differently.
